From Zsa Zsa Gabor’s groundbreaking pink dress for the 1952 film Moulin Rouge designed by fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli. This full-blooded, decidedly brash hue – was soon called ‘Shocking Pink’.

Others followed…Marilyn Monroe was becoming America’s sex symbol. In the 1953 movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, it was this dying-to-be-noticed pink strapless gown she wore for the legendary musical number that sealed the deal. Pink became the color of potent power wielded by those who knew what they wanted and were not afraid to go for it.
